Slow CRS

CRS is responding very slowly already. I wonder if they’re really ready for this all-online thing they’re implementing.

OK, since it’s the first day of preenlistment, I’d give CRS the benefit of the doubt. But, they should really think of upgrading their hardware, if they haven’t done so; if they do not, then going all-online now wouldn’t be a very good idea.

(The CRS team should start becoming more open to the students! Sometimes, I feel if such a team really does exist in the first place.)

Second Semester CRS Online Preenlistment Now Open

Today is officially the start of online preenlistment for second semester, AY 2006-2007! This will also be the second time that all enlistments will be done online, including prerog (the CRS user guide [Adobe PDF] calls it “electronic teacher’s prerogative”). The first time was during the last summer term (oh, the agony). I hope the CRS team gets it right this time. By the way, there is no realtime enlistment this semester (Update: Based on emails I’ve been receiving from “trustworthy channels,” it seems that there will indeed be a realtime enlistment next semester. I wonder if it’s the same as the “electronic teacher’s prerogative” coming the week after regular registration); instead, they will be implementing daily batch enlistment runs, which is also random, like preenlistment.
